Hard and Soft Top Development

"Rally day at Castle Combe would mark my first official test of the updated Rally Murtaya. The car had been subject to a host of modifications over its lifetime, but last weekend marked a significant step forward in the cars development.
First thing to mention about the car is the addition of the new Coupe roof. This is not only a great aesthetic improvement, but it also helps to improve the cars aerodynamic properties. The roof also allows about 2 inches greater head clearance, meaning taller drivers can now sit more comfortably. To finish it off the car now adorns striking new livery which along with the gloss white Team Dynamics wheels, makes a pretty bold statement.
Performance has always been the big appeal for the Murtaya. Even with the engine running at entry level spec, the car launches out of corners at a rapid pace. The particular map we were using required the engine to be revved quite hard to get the best out of it, but once the turbo spooled up the car was unstoppable. Regularly being the quickest car out on circuit, crowds would always be waiting when we got back to the paddock.
Handling is another area which has been further improved. The now standard AST suspension worked straight out the box and with plenty of adjustment available, the driver can fine tune handling to his or her preference. The four wheel drive system was faultless as always, offering predictable handling throughout the day. Even with the quickest movements on the wheel, the car responds instantly and will go exactly where you point it.
It was great to get out in the car once again and with more improvements on the way, it looks set to be a promising few months for Murtaya Sports cars.

Talks Have Started About Bringing a 5th Variant into the MURTAYA Range
September 2010
A dedicated GT style track car - calling on all the strengths of the MURTAYA's monocoque and the power delivery potential of the Subaru drive train.
After the recent outing at Castle Combe in the hands of James Harrison, we at MSC realised that there is massive potential for a stunning dedicated track car with its own race series, along the lines of the TVR Tuscan Challenge or the Ginetta Championship. With this goal in mind we are talking to a number of interested parties.
I met the MURTAYA crew at the 2008 Autosport show in Birmingham while I was looking for companies I’d enjoy having my industrial placement with. I have always been fascinated by kit-cars because most of them are quick, affordable and easy to build. The MURTAYA was different from all other kit-cars; the kit and the Subaru Impreza donor parts were in so much harmony with each other that if I hadn’t known it was a kit car, I would have actually thought it was a normal production car... and it was QUICK, affordable and easy to build!
In summer 2010, I found out that Andy White was taking over the company after the old managing team went bust. I also found out that they were relocating their premises, and that they were planning on further developing the car with the help of Engineer Graham Codling. That was the perfect opportunity for me to join in and help improve a fascinating car that has already acquired a formidable reputation while learning essential hands-on skills that I would never be taught at University.
As work and development went on at MURTAYA, I had the chance to transform theory into practice; I learnt how to make components out of carbon fibre and GRP and I had the opportunity to meet key personalities in the motorsport industry such as Graham Gleeson from EXE-TC Suspensions. The main thing I’ve learnt working alongside Graham Codling is that you can make anything you want as long as you can perfectly visualise what your final product will look like.
My experience with MURTAYA was unique and will definitely boost my academic level during my Masters year in Motorsports Engineering at Oxford Brookes University. The MURTAYA will definitely enter the list of world top kit-cars in the near future.
V.I.P Visit
Friday 15 October 2010
Olly Clark of Roger Clark Motorsport paid us a visit today.
Two reasons for the visit where ...
1 - to deliver the part for the new 2.1 L stoker motor that RPE are building for us, and 2 - to have a drive in the Red Murtaya.
On his return home he sent this message:
Many thanks for your time and warm hospitality on Friday. It was great to have a run out in the car and sample the Murtaya. There’s certainly scope and potential for people to build a real rocket there!
Kind Regards, Olly Clark.
